Best 10 Days – DUL HAJJ

It’s a fact that we may get materialistic opportunity often but occasionally do we get spiritual opportunities. And when spiritual opportunity knocks so we should avail it or else we will not get the chance again due to number of reason. As we are not sure about our health, time and life. These training stimulate our Imaan to high level. A training that doesn’t cost us much except inclination, commitment and a consistent go! Indeed it’s a bessings that we get time to time training. The holy month of Ramdaan passed by a few weeks back. Now again as we are blessed to witness ‘The First 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah’ We are facing another training session, where we need to make the best out of it and prepare ourselves for the rest of the month through Haj pilgrimage practically demonstrating the training but those who are not can engage themselve in prayers and worship. These ten days are days of Allah (Ayam- ullah) where Allah swears an oath by them and swearing an oath on something by Allah is itself an indication of its great importance and benefit :-

“By the dawn; by the ten nights.” Chapter 89, Surah Al-Fajr, verses 1-2.

One can just not afford missing this great opportunity in front. Therefore let us sow the seeds of our good deeds and reap its fruits for the times to come. The Haj gives us the message of sacrifice, we not only sacrifice the animal but pledge ourselves that we will sacrifice our time, wealth, ability and everything for the sake of God. And by performing the Haj ritual which reminds us the sacrifice of Hajra AS, Ismail AS and Ibrahim AS in the way od Allah and how they obeyed and submitted themselves to the will and order of Allah. Let us train ourselves through a intensified spiritual consciousness and follow that pattern throughout our lives.

The companion of our Prophet pbuh Sa’id bin Jubair RA, when the days of Dhul Hijjah began he (Prophets Muhammad pbuh) would strive to increase in good actions with great intensity until he was unable to increase anymore. The following are some of the recommended activities to perform during these blessed days; there are no limits, but definitely to begin with it. However, It is recommended to fast on the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah, especially on the 9th(8/9 those who are not in Saudi) which is the blessed day of Arafat.

Fasting is definitely one of the most beloved deeds to Allah; “Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafat absolves the sins for two years: the previous year and the coming year, and fasting on ‘Ashura, (the tenth day of Muharram) atones for the sins of previous years.” [Ibn Majah]

It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (Allahu Akbar), tahmeed (Alhamdulill- ah), tahleel (Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), and tasbeeh (SubhanAllah) during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. These words should be recited abundantly in the masjids, homes, streets and in every place possible and permissible; an easy way to earn reward and revive the Sunnah. It is obligatory on Muslim who is not travelling and can afford it to offer the sacrifice of a livestock animal.

This is the Sunnah of our Prophet Ibrahim AS which represents the most important facts for the have-nots and also a means to earn the reward of Allah. Qur’an states in the Holy Quran in Chapter 37, Surah Al-Haj and verse 37

“It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches Allah, It is their piety that reaches Allah.”

If you want Allah to talk to you read the Quran. … “So remember me i will remember you”. Let’s come in close proximity with the Quran once again and remain the same to become the best person as stated in Hadith that

“The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others”. [Bukhari]

we need to surround our lives in the shade of Quran. Prophet Muhammad pbuh said,

“The best supplication is the supplication on the day of Arafat.” [Tirmidhi]

We need to utilize this occasion to seek Allah’s Mercy and Forgiveness. Let us not miss these great days where our supplications will be accepted InshaAllah. We should link our every deed knowingly or unknowingly with our faith (Iman) and in hope of reward. This conscious methodology of performing deeds can revive our spirit by constant remembrance of Allah and more benefits. Let us connect ourselves to spirituality; through the training program blessed by our Creator and connect every physical and mental activity to Him. Any action prescribed by Allah if directed to Allah converts it into a form of worship and that’s all we need for this life Journey and abode in the next life.

May Allah give us the tawfeeq to abide by the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. And accept our Ibaadah and efforts. Ameen!
