“And whoever obeys the Messenger, thereby obeys Allah” (Qur’an 4:80)
“And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment”. [Qur’an 59:7]
The Qur’an and Hadith are the fundamental source of guidance for Muslims. The Qur’an is the word of God and Suunah is the way of life of Prophet Muhammad pbuh. Both are important equally. The divine message – Qur’an was revealed to him so without knowing his character, his mission, his teachings how can we learn the understanding of Islam. Just an analogy, It’s like asking ” is the brain important or the heart we breath ? The brain will only function when your heart is alive, without the heart beat one can not move. So the brain and the heart both are essential for the person. Same as “is the water important or the glass we drink water through?” both are imperative to satisfy our thirst. Hence, Quran and Sunnah (way) are important for the followers if miss one the other also is affected.
Hadith is the histroy of Islam, the way to approach to Quran. Without Sunnah, we might be unable to obey the command of Allah. For instance, there is no mention about how to perform Salaah. And we get to know it from the Hadith and action of the Prophet pbuh. Kindness with patents and what level if kindness, the criteria of good manner and character. Any matter which is not in the paremeter of Qur’an and Sunnah then how goverrner or chief decide and solve the matter..we get these authority from Hadith when maaz bin Jabal RA was appointed the goverrner for Yamen so Prohet pbuh asked how you will judge ?
What if it is not in the Book of Allah? What if it is not in the tradition of the Messenger of Allah? He said ; Then I will strive to form an opinion (ijtihad).” The Prophet pbuh said: All praise is due to Allah who has made suitable the messenger of the Messenger of Allah. (Tirmidhi)
“O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray”. ( Prophet Muhammad’s pbuh farewell sermon)
