The Kaaba is a symbolic monument in the history of Islam; it also has a legit literal significance in the implementation of Islam on the globe. The Kaaba is placed to symbolise the concept of Oneness of God (Tawheed), a mark of Unity, a conscious gesture of Loyalty. Kaba is the Qibla i.e. the direction Muslims face during their prayers. So we need to understand, respect and worship are different things. Kaba, the holiest place has been highly respected not worshipped. Only God deserve all the glory, our worship, devotion, love, praise, and respect. But with the psssage of time, the Kaba had been dishonoured by the genrations after Abraham AS and became the center of idol worshipping for the Arabs, moreover was surrounded by 360 Idol. Since Islam being the last argument and proof and revelation from God preferred for all mankind through all ages be it our ages or those to come more on earth, it had to be applied and implemented physically. It is not just the matter of spirituality or belief, it is a way of life for man on earth, the perfect balance for regulations and functions in their necessary activities.
It’s the first ‘House of Allah’ built by angels and Prophet Adam AS, then again God commanded Ibrahim AS to re-establish it again the place chosen by God with his wisdom as a proof of his revelation and favour upon mankind. The Kaaba is mentioned in the Quran as a place where wise and significant sings and miracles have been placed and amongst them is the zamzam, and may be one of them would be the evidence of Abraham AS constructing it. Prophet Abraham AS was no ordinary man, along with his mission, he had a vision; he prayed to God for children to take forward his mission and during the last period of his life, Allah blessed him with a child – Ishmael AS (Ismail) and later one with Isaac AS (Ishaq). His only concern with his children was to prepare them for the mission on which he spent his whole life and should be carried on after his death too.
Indeed ! The Almighty God chose Prophet Muhammad pbuh as the last Prophet from the progeny of Abraham AS and Ismail AS. Prophet Muhammad pbuh accomplished His father (Abraham AS) mission. When he was entering Makkah (after the conquest of Makkah) as a conquerer, he pbuh was not proud or boastful like a worldly conqueror. An expression of humility and gentleness was on his face and he pbuh lowered his head in humility so that it touched the saddle of the pack camel. He pbuh purified and cleaned the house of God from all false diety and reciting :
“Truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed falsehood, [by its nature], is ever perishing/bound to perish” (Qur’an 17: 81)
Now K’aba is a pure sign of Islamic Monotheism with the formula “there is no God except Allah and Prophets Muhammad pbuh is His messenger”. ‘Haj’ is the Sunnah of our Prophet Abraham AS and his family’s sacrifice and love for the sake of Allah. Allah appreciated and honoured their act so much that it became the obligatory act of Islam. By following the act performed by Abraham AS, we remember them and remind ourselves that we have to follow the same path and sacrifice everthing for God alone to earn the reward from Him.
God says in the Holy Quran : “It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches Allah, It is their piety that reaches Allah”. (Qur’an 37, verse 37)
And after its conquest it was reformed as it was commanded by God, it was also a wise sign indicating that the Almighty God cannot be limited to physicality or natural elements (stones, images, etc) but God is beyond our psychological and physical aspects. And that God can never be destroyed or eliminate in any possible way by any possible creation existing. To execute this entire mission physically on earth for the easiness and proof for mankind the last chosen prophet, Muhammad pbuh was sent and his ultimate task was to establish the last perfect conduct in the blessed land of the Kaaba built by Abraham AS to once again or the last time revived through a clear book i.e Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad pbuh was sent for all of mankind with the final religion Islam (submission to God). Yet, it is not limited to Prophet Abraham’s AS culture or to the cultures of Arab but for the whole mankind and to come further.
And Allah knows best.
